Late Greats

Dan Fogelberg [1951 - 2007]

Mr. Fogelberg was described by the Los Angeles Times as "the singer-songwriter" who defined soft rock.
He is best known for the mellow 1980s songs "Longer" and "Leader Of The Band". After beginning his career as a folk singer during the early 1970s, he achieved early success with musician Tim Weisberg recording "Part Of The Plan" and "The Power Of Gold". Fogelberg had numerous top 30 hits including "Same Old Lang Syne", "Hard To Say" and "The Language Of Love".

Dan Fogelberg died at his home in Maine after a long battle with prostate cancer.

Ike Turner [1931 - 2007]

Either you loved him or hated him, Ike Turner was a music powerhouse. His career spanned over 50 years, with two Grammy Awards and a recipient of the Recording Academy's 2004 Heroes Award. His second Grammy came in 2006 for his album "Risin' With the Blues". Although Turner did not do a full crossover to rock 'n' roll, he did record "Rocket 88" in 1951, considered as the first rock song ever recorded. Unfortunately, his drug and alcohol abuse, as well as his stormy abusive relationship with Tina Turner overshadowed his prestigious musical career. Although his legacy as a groundbreaking pioneer in the music industry will never be forgotten, Ike will be known mostly for discovering Tina Turner.

Ike Turner died at his home in San Marco, California from emphysema.

Kevin DuBrow [1955 - 2007]

Kevin DuBrow was a quintessential metal singer in the 1980's. As lead singer of Quiet Riot, he helped the band to hit the top of the charts with its 1983 album, "Metal Health," considered by some sources as the first heavy metal album to hit No. 1. The album was driven by the group's cover of Slade's "Cum on Feel the Noize," which hit the Top 40. The band's other hits included "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)" and another Slade cover, "Mama Weer All Crazee Now."
Quiet Riot never disbanned. They spent most of the time touring in small ventures. DuBrow made a cameo appearance in VH1's "The Surreal Life".

Kevin DuBrow died at his home in Las Vegas from an accidental overdose.
