SFM Announces New Inductees

The board of directors of the Puerto Rico Music Hall of Fame announced the new members of the class of 2020. The 10th annual Induction Ceremony will be on March 28 at the Center for Fine Arts in Humacao.
Gilberto Santa Rosa, Manny Manuel, and the late Toñito López will join the organization. Carlos "El Profe" Sánchez and Pablo Rosario will be the recipients of the Santa Cecilia award.  Pedro Matos Rivera is the new recipient of the San Gregorio Award. The Rafael Quiñones Vidal award goes to the late Tommy Muñiz for his contribution to the music industry.

Henry Cole, Johnny el Bravo, Joey Lidin Barbosa, and Jose “El Tsunami de la Salsa” González, were among the guests at the conference.  Another alumnus, José Juan Tañón was also present.  He took the opportunity to announce his concert at the Center for Fine Arts in San Juan on February 23rd.  
Singer Manny Manuel could not be present but sent a message for the press conference:
"I am very honored and happy about this distinction. I receive it with great humility because, for me, it is an honor to be amongst many artists who gave glory to my Island. I thank all members of the Puerto Rico Music Hall of Fame who thought of this ‘jibarito' of the mountain.” 


Legendary artists and promoters are now part of the SFM such as Danny Rivera, Lucecita Benitez, Chuck Negrón, Dagmar Rivera, Cheo Feliciano, Giovanni Hidalgo, Bobby Valentín, Alberto Carrión, Nydia Caro, Los Rayos Gamma, Alfred D. Herger, Iris Chacón, Julio Ángel, among others.

"The Puerto Rico Music Hall of Fame represents a legacy for future generations that highlights the musical path of our people, which must perpetuate in history," said José Nieves, president of SFM.
