Gary Moore (1952 - 2011)
Thin Lizzy's lead guitarist Gary Moore passed away in his sleep today while vacationing in Spain. He was 58.
In his 40 year-plus career, Moore was part of the Irish band Thin Lizzy with the late Phil Lynott and Brian Downey in three separate occasions. He also had a successful solo career, and performed with music luminaries such as BB. King, Albert King, Colosseum II, Greg Lake and Skid Row. He also recorded with powerhouse musicians like George Harrison, The Beach Boys, and Ozzy Osbourne.
Moore experimented with Jazz, country, electric blues, and heavy metal. He collaborated with Andrew Lloyd Webber on the 1977 album "Variations", and did a cameo appearance doing lead guitars on "She's My Baby", a track available on the Traveling Wilbury's third album.
His album "Grinding Stone" in 1973 marked the beginning of a successful solo career for Moore. With the help of fellow musician Phil Lynott, produced "Parisienne Walkways", reaching the top of the UK Charts in 1979.
H.A.P.P.Y. Radio extends its condolences to the Moore family, friends and fans for this unexpected loss. Godspeed Gary!
